This tour may be the closest you'll ever get to time travel. Thanks to the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, the towns at its base were carpeted in fallout and preserved for posterity. In one day we will take you almost 2000 years back in the time visiting the following cities:
 
Pompeii. More a city than a site, a visit gives you the chance to stroll ancient streets;observing along the way ancient houses, shops, temples, frescoes, graffiti, and plaster casts of people killed by the eruption.
 
Herculaneum. Smaller than Pompeii, but due to the pyroclastic flow of the eruption of  Vesuvius which preserved organic materials such as wood this site is even more evocative and in placesbreathtakingly well-preserved.
 
Mount Vesuvius. Mainland Europe's only active volcano is also a national park, with paths winding along the lava Flows.
You’ll be amazed at how vesuvius looms over the entire region even in naples 10 miles away it remains a totally commanding presence.
